Exams? They don't bother me!!

After seeing this title, you might have thought that I am acting a bit haughty. I don't blame you for your inference, but I gave this blog this title for a specific reason; this is exactly what I told my friends when they asked me in classes 10 and 12 "Aren't you worried about the board exams?". Why I was confident( or overconfident) as some of you might think, here's what I used to do:

Rule 1: Never keep anything pending for the last minute
I am sure you might have heard this for the umpteenth time from the umpteenth person, but it works. Getting your work done as quickly as possible allows you to relax and function efficiently. Keeping your work pending till the eleventh hour would put you in stress, reduces your creativity and most importantly frustrates you, you start panicking and you would not be able to produce your desired results.

Never ever think of doing this

Rule 2: Study daily
Another rule heard for the umpteenth time! But it reduces your burden in the end. If you prefer chilling more than studying and that too studying just before the exams would put great pressure and frustration on you and you are most likely to flunk the exam big time. True Story people, many of my classmates never did this and had to repent in the end for their low marks( Not trying to scare you, but yeah it is the truth)

You're on your way to becoming like them

Rule 3: Practice your math daily
All of us have to deal with some form of math in their school life. Even if you picked up Humanities with the hope of fleeing from math, you have to do it, because the popular misconception is that Humanities is the easiest stream bcoz there ain't math.( Many of my friends did this. Their mind voice after doing so was something like this) :

Suraj Venjnaramoodu meme saying "I'm Trapped"

Rule 4: Make maximum use of every single Mock exam
Almost all of us are like him when it comes to studies.

Gif of Usain Bolt finishing first

He saves his energy for the final 50m and then dashes towards glory, but if you try to save yours till the Board exam, you are most likely to end up with low marks and a lot of criticisms( Now don't give me that There-is-life-beyond-marks and Marks-don't-decide-my-life cliche, not that I am a mark-aholic, but it's how things are stacked up). All the exams that you write at school are like the heats of the Olympics and the Board exams are like the finals. But sometimes due to "unfavourable circumstances" the finals have to be cancelled and the awards given according to the performance in the heats. In 2020 CBSE decided to evaluate students based on their performance in the exams conducted. Think of what would have happened if they decided to evaluate you on the basis of your Mock Exams at school; everyone who thought of dashing in the finals be like:

(This is comedian Vadivelu, who is saying Sothikathinga da Ennaya! It literally means "Don't  emotionally harass me!!")

Rule 5: Prepare yourself for the conditions

My school had its lunch break at 11:30 am and the Board Exams start at 10:30 am, that means after one hour, my stomach starts grumbling like a gossipy neighbour. To quote a Science friend of mine, Grumbling Stomach implies Mind confusion which implies Stupid Answers in Board Exams. So mentally and physically prepare yourself for the conditions you write the exam in. Select a practice day for a subject every week and write the exam in the 10:30-1:30 time frame. At first, it will be tiring, but it pays off in the end.

In the end, I just have one thing to say: All the Best for your Exams!!! Viel Glück für Ihre Prüfungen!( I can speak a bit of German, BTW)

Comments

  1. This is a good list for the students out there, who whine about studies. As said above prepare in advance and be confident, and pass out in flying colours.
